2014 Gravel Grinder Winner Max Anderson!
RACE & RIDE IS ON!
I will ride the course this coming week, but I feel pretty good about the ride and race. We might alter the course next week to provide a safe but interesting route for all to enjoy.
I have ridden twice...once when it was dry and another after it snowed.....the route will make for great riding. If dry the next week you can race it with a road bicycle...I would recommend 27mm tires or wider!
18 mile loop offers 6 miles of gravel
28 mile loop offers 12 miles of gravel
Interested in Riding? Unpaved: Routes...17, 28 and 63 mile loops.
Paved Route of 35 Miles with a Rest Stop...All loops will take you back to the Park Farm Winery!

A DONATION to the Hempstead High School Debate Team above this amount would be nice! Riders will need to check in and sign a release prior to their departure.
Paved Riders will depart at 10:00-11:00 A.M
17 Mile Unpaved Riders will leave after the last race departs (11:00 A.M.)
28 Mile Unpaved Riders will leave at 10:00 A.M.....note racers will be passing you, so please move to the right when they approach.
60 Mile Unpaved Riders will leave after the last race departs (11:00 A.M. you will be riding behind the racers to minimize scoring issues.

GRAVEL GRINDING RACE: 62.4 and 89.4 mile Races. Ride short and/or long. There will be 4 different categories of races....Road/Cycle Cross Bicycle, Mountain Bicycle, Fat Tire Bicycle and Single Speed. You enter once, double entered for 62.4 Mile Race and 89.4 Mile Race! Single Speed will only race the 62.4 Mile Race....Volunteers need to go home!
Medals and Prizes will be awarded to each category. Thank you Bicycle World and Park Farm Winery!

All USAC rules apply and a helmet is required at all times. Courses are open to traffic and the centerline rule will be strictly enforced. The Promoter reserves the right to combine fields or shorten the course if weather limits the course. NO REFUNDS, in accordance with USAC rules.
No Neutral Follow - No Neutral Support - No Neutral Wheels
Carry a tube(s), pump, or CO2 cartridge with you during your race. Majority of the course is paved, with some gravel (especially up hill). If it is dry enough, a road bicycle could be used....you will be entered in the Cyclo-Cross Category.
Follow the Rules of the Road....The course is long, no one is going to win this race in the first mile!
Water/Feed will be available at the Winery for all racers after they complete the 18, 45 and 63 mile mark into the race (you will climb a long gravel hill and ride past the Park Farm Winery...you can decide to continue or call it a day).
Anticipate Awards Around: 4:00-5:00 P.M. at the Winery!
If you ride or if you don't...just come to the Winery...stay enjoy! 10% of all proceeds will go to the Hempstead High School Debate Team!
